The Kereru (My favourite bird!) won bird of the year!
Here is a description!\
Kereru
They live in forests, parks, reserves and even in gardens!
They eat berry's from trees and get drunk because it sits in there crop and fertilises and they fall out of the tree!
Please comment down below what is you favourite bird?
Bye!
Hello Samuel,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for having your favourite bird win the bird of the year! I really like your small description of the Kereru.
My favourite fact from your post was that the birds get drunk! I never knew they could act all weird like humans! I like how they live in local places because we get to see them often.
Maybe next time you could add a little more information to your post about the Kereru.
Happy Blogging

Kia ora Sam,
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh when I read your fact about Kereru's getting drunk off berries. I was thinking to myself 'what on earth is Sam talking about?'. so I went and scrolled through google and you are absolutely right. How have I not heard of this before. I read the New Zealand Herald article, is this where you got your information? That is absolutely fascinating. It sounds as though the mixture of ripe fruit in their digestive system and the hot turns the mushed up fruit to alcohol.
That is hilarious. Thank you for sharing this awesome fact with me. I often have Kereru visiting our back yard as we live on the edge of a native forest so I am going to keep an eye out for drunk Kereru's.
Amazing,
Megan :)
Hi
DeleteYes it is funny, my nan tells us that every year when we go down to spend time with here and I was also told at my trip to tiri tiri matangi.
Thanks for the comment.

Hi Samuel,
ReplyDeleteWell done on finishing this activity. Your facts about the Kereru are great. I had no idea that they manage to get drunk and fall off trees. Also, I can see why you like them, they are very colourful birds and look very cool. Keep up the good work.
Hi
DeleteYeah they look awesome.

Hi Sam,
ReplyDeleteDo you remember the one we saw in Mahia during our Summer Holiday. I love how you have incorporated the fact that Nan told us about with the Karaka berries and how it makes them drunk from eating too many. I think it would be quite funny seeing one fall out of the tree, hopefully they don't hurt themselves when they do.
We are so privileged to still be able to see them flying around in their natural habitat.

Hi
