Hi Samuel! My name is Mia from Yaldhurst Model School and I am also one of the participants of the summer learning journey. I like your post with your pictures that you have added. I think that you have a very good opinion because we are probably one of the countries that still has a lot of greenery than others! To make this a better post I would love for you to add a bit more information to why and some more reasons.
Logging is good for our economy, it’s where our timber comes from for our building industry. But I also agree that it would nice to keep our environment t. We are good here where we plant more trees to replace the ones that get cut down for timber use. I hope generations to come keep up the same practices.
You have stated your opinion on logging and whether it should be allowed to continue in Aotearoa. Your reasoning is fair, it would be ideal if we were able to replace trees at the same rate as they are cut down.. Unfortunately that is pretty much impossible for a number of reasons, the first being that it takes seconds to cut down a tree but years for them to grow!
Perhaps next time you could add some factual information to support your opinion on the matter. Why does our environment need trees?
I’m against logging because I believe our animals deserve to live and thrive in their homes! Trees also provide shade for us stay cool (which I am very appreciative of, especially in the summer time). Our forests contribute to the livelihood of many creatures, who are entitled to live in a safe home just like we are.
Hi Samuel, Well done on finishing this Summer Learning Journey activity. I think that you have done a great job explaining why you don't think logging should be allowed in New Zealand. I think that they should continue because we need the materials to build houses for our growing population. Keep up the good work.
