activity 2 living on the edge

This a letter to mum...

Dear mum, My teacher has just announced that I and my class are going to Tundra!
It is a very cold place were there are no trees, it rarely drops and is around -30 C.
This means I needed to pack a lot of warm clothes and I think I will need some hot food to keep me going.
I don't know where we are staying so we will have to sort that out once we get there.
I have some money for food there, maybe there will be some food there as well.
Please sign permission slip and see you in a couple of weeks!

This is just a task and I will not be going so don't worry, See you later and comment below.

  1. Hi Sam,

Firstly I am happy and sad to hear that this was only make believe. Happy as you not going anywhere, but sad as what an adventure it would be. How incredibly cold it would be. I think you would have take a thermos too with Hot Chocolate in it to keep you warm. Accomodation is always fun to investigate, I’m sure you can do some jobs around the house to earn some spending money. If you were going on a trip I would have no issues signing the permission slip.

Stay safe and keep up the awesome blogs.

    Mum

  2. Hola Sam,

You have written a descriptive letter to your Mum about the trip you are about to take to the Tundra. I can tell you took some time to consider what you would need to take to a place that is well below freezing point, ka pai.

A friendly reminder; the activity asks that you write a letter about your trip to the Tundra, which means you would already be there. Please make some changes to your letter to express your (imaginary) experience at the Tundra. I will be happy to award you with full points for this activity once you have edited your letter.

If I had the opportunity, I'd definitely go to experience that extreme cold, especially now that it is summer and so hot here in Auckland! Hopefully if I do visit I'd get to see some wildlife! Have you ever seen an Arctic Wolf in real life? Regal creatures they are, I'd love to hear one howl in person someday.

I look forward to reading your edited post.

    Toe feiloa'i fo'i,

    Cia.

  3. Hi Samuel,
Well done on finishing this activity. Your letter to your mother is great. I like how you said you were going to the tundra on a school trip. Would you want to go in real life when you are older? If you do, you better pack some warm clothes! Keep up the good work.
