ReplyDeleteWelcome back to the Summer Learning Journey. I am excited to see all your posts over the summer, I see that you are already onto day 2. I am so excited to see so many of the students from Waikowhai Primary kick starting their journey so early. This is incredible. We have about 80 students already participating in the programme this year. Isn't that incredible. I think you might have competition this year, Sam.
You have shared two very fascinating facts about our country, Aotearoa, but I cannot seem to see the third. Could you tell me about the third interesting fact that you came across in the comments? I was also very shocked on Monday, when you told me that you must swear an oath of loyalty to our Queen, in order to become a citizen. This seems like such a traditional ceremony which surprises me that it is still practiced in our country. Do you know what else is included in a New Zealand citizenship ceremony?

ReplyDeleteI too was fascinated by the fact that we still have to say an oath to our Queen when becoming a citizen. I suppose the Royal Family is very particular with traditions and being one of her nations we would be expected to still follow those traditions.
Looking forward to this years journey as we had so much fun with it last year.
