Fundraising.
Today's blog is about how I would help raise funds for families in the 1930s during the droughts and Great Depression.
Three Ideas I have:
1. Hosting a dance. Where everyone could get dressed up for an evening of fun.
2. Ice Skating competitions
3. Movie Marathon Event
Would you attend one of my fundraisers? What fundraisers would you do?

Kia Ora Sam,
ReplyDeleteAronui and I have just returned from our walk and I we are both sitting here reading your post. What a great idea it is to have a dance where people can get dressed up and have a great night! I love getting dressed up and would happily buy a ticket for a dance if it was a fundraiser. I can still remember going to dances when I was living in Canada. It was quite common for students at our university to host a dance as a way to raise money for a trip or for new equipment. I went to a university called 'Queen's University' in Kingston, Ontario and studied Physical Education so we often needed new sports equipment for our classes.
As part of my education at Queen's I actually had to take Ballroom Dancing classes. Strange, I know, but it was part of the curriculum for Phys. Ed. at the school. It is a very old, traditional university with customs that date back hundreds of years. Have you ever seen ballroom dancing on TV? It is the kind of dancing that people do on shows like 'Dancing with the Stars.'
Great post, Sam - very creative!
Keep up the great work,
Rachel :)
These are great fundraising ideas. Wonder if we could incorporate any into our school fundraising. I would attend the movie marathon and the dance, not sure about the ice skating as I am not a skater. The Movie Marathon idea is great. What movies would you choose if we were to hold one??
