Activity 1 scaling new heights

Edmund Hillary is a famous New Zealander.
If I were to review him this is what I would ask him...

How hard was it to climb Everest?

If someone was training what advise would you give them?

What was the worst part of your journey?

How scared were you?

Was it worth it in the air?

What questions would you ask?

  3. Hi Sam,

Great questions. I would ask him what was his most memorable moment from the climb? And I would also ask if he was to do it again what would he do differently (if anything)?
I am also fascinated by Jasmines question about how would you react if you ever saw Sir Edmund Hillary?

  4. Kia Orana Samuel,

You have prepared some great questions! It is always good to think of some questions that only the person you are interviewing could answer/would know the answer to. For your last question did you mean to ask 'Was it worth it in the end?'? If not, could you explain what you meant?

I love that you included a photograph of both Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund Hillary, they achieved that feat together. I'd love to know where you found such a wonderful picture!

A few questions I would probably ask are; ‘Did you hallucinate at all breathing in the thin air?’ and 'Did you see anyone who had frozen to death on the climb? How did it make you feel?’. I bet the mental struggle was almost as tough as the physical climb, I can’t imagine trying to climb in that environment. Could you?

Keep working hard, you are on a roll!

    Toe feiloa'i fo'i,

    Cia.

  5. Hi Samuel,
Well done on finishing this activity. The questions that you would ask Sir Edmund Hillary are great. I would imagine that he must have felt really scared when climbing Mt Everest because there was always a danger of him dying (frozen to death, avalanche, etc). Keep up the good work.
