Bonus activity Last post ever/concluding the journey

My eyes are watering!
This is my last post ever!
☹️😩😩😩😩😩😩
It has been so good and I just want to say thank you for all your support!

Have learnt with this programme to try everything and go hard.
I was surprised with all of the endangered animals in this world.
I was also a bit concerned and upset with the endangered animals.
Me and my family make fire bricks using recycled paper and is compacted to make them.

This is my last post and if you see me in public please come and say Hi.
I would like to make some shout outs to my fellow competitors in Te waka ako.
And to my mum and dad for supporting me.
and summer learning journey it's self.
Thank you Megan for 2 years of this programme it is so cool.

  1. Mōrena Sam,

Wow! Congratulations on completing the Summer learning Journey for the second year in a row. You have done a fantastic job. I am so proud of you for working hard over the summer to complete all of the 60 activities. It is great to see that you have encouraged Maddison to join in the fun as well. You are both doing an incredible job.

I am also getting teary eyed knowing that you have finished the programme and I may not get to see you in person this year. Maybe we can work something out with Waikowhai Intermediate.

I was also very shocked at the high number of animals that are endangered in this beautiful world. It was devastating to learn that there is only around 63 Maui dolphins left in the ocean surrounding New Zealand. I am sure there are many people working hard to protect this beautiful mammal. What was one of the endangered animals that shocked you the most?

Remember to go back and check some of the activities myself or Cia have prompted you about, so that I can award you full points for those activities.

Once again Sam, congratulations on completing the journey, I hope that you are proud of this accomplishment. I certainly am, and I know you Mum will be to.

Ka kite anō au i a koe,
    Megan :)

  2. Mōrena Sam!

My name is Jordan and, like Megan, I am a Cluster Manager for the Summer Learning Journey programme. I work with the kids in Kootuitui (Papakura).

Congratulations on finishing the programme, you must be incredibly proud of yourself. Also, Megan has informed us that this is actually your second time completing the programme! How have you found it?
I'm pleased to read that you've learned a lot from the programme, especially about endangered animals. How do you think you can help? Did you know that there's a petition that you can sign to help save the last 63 Māui dolphins?
You can read more about it here, and hopefully help to save these rare dolphins before their habitat is destroyed and they're pushed even closer to the brink of extinction: https://www.wwf.org.nz/take_action/dolphinsnotmining/

Megan also shared with us your video where you interviewed your younger sister — so adorable!

Well done again, Sam, we're all really proud of your achievement.

My name is Hazel, and I work with Megan & Jordan on the Summer Learning Journey.

I just wanted to come by and congratulate you on completing all of the activities in this year's programme. Megan said that you also completed the programme last year - ka pai! I am very impressed by all of the hard mahi you put in.

I am so glad that you enjoyed taking part in the SLJ, and I hope that you'll use all of your new knowledge to help take care of our precious environment.

Once again, a huge congratulations on completing all of the activities; you should be very proud of yourself. I hope that you enjoy the rest of your summer holidays.

  5. Kia Ora Sam,

My name is Rachel and I work with Megan, Jordan, Hazel (and the rest of our lovely team) on the Summer Learning Journey programme. Huge congratulations on completing the SLJ this year. I am often speaking with Megan and she has repeatedly told me about the great work that you are doing on the programme this year (and last!). It's wonderful to read that you learned a lot about the environment, particularly about various endangered species, and that you and your family are working to protect it by making fire bricks out of recycled paper. That is such a great idea!

I really hope that I get the chance to meet you in person and to congratulate you personally. You have done a wonderful job and should be very proud. We are certainly very proud of you!

    Warmest regards,
    Rachel

  6. Hi Samuel,
First of, congratulations on completing all of the Summer Learning Journey activities. I think that you have done a great job and have learnt lots. What was your favorite activity? I liked the one you did just before this (similarities and differences between the three animals) as you had some great facts about the animals. Well done Samuel!
