Week 1 Day 5 Bonus Activity - The Dawn of an Era - #EarnTheFern

Did you know the Commonwealth Games started in Canada in 1930?

In 1966 a man called Bill Kini won a Gold Medal for being the best Heavyweight Boxer at the Commonwealth Games.  I am now imagining I was a news reporter doing an interview with Bill Kini.

These are the questions I would like to ask him:

1. When did you start boxing and Why?
2. What was your first award you received for boxing?
3. If you hadn't started boxing what would you be participating in?
4. If you could give advice to someone wanting to start boxing what would you say to them?

Hope you like my questions.  Would you have asked something different?

Week 1 Day 5 Activity 2 - The Dawn of an Era - The Treaty of Waitangi

Now I know you would have heard about the Treaty of Waitangi, have you heard about the Village of Waitangi and what you can do there?

Here is 3 things I found you can do there.

1. Live Kapahaka Performances
There are different types of performances including
Waiata-ā-ringa, Poi, and Hakas

2. Waitangi Mountain Bike Park
Family friendly bike trails from beginners to advanced.

3.Taimai Tours
Where you get to paddle on one of the 50ft War Canoe.  The tour lasts 2 hours and you learn about their culture through storytelling.

I would like to try the bike park, as I love being outdoors on my bike, scooter or skateboard.

Have you been to the village of Waitangi?
