  1. Hello Sam,

Welcome back to the Summer Learning Journey. I am excited to see all your posts over the summer, I see that you are already onto day 2. I am so excited to see so many of the students from Waikowhai Primary kick starting their journey so early. This is incredible. We have about 80 students already participating in the programme this year. Isn't that incredible. I think you might have competition this year, Sam.

You have shared two very fascinating facts about our country, Aotearoa, but I cannot seem to see the third. Could you tell me about the third interesting fact that you came across in the comments? I was also very shocked on Monday, when you told me that you must swear an oath of loyalty to our Queen, in order to become a citizen. This seems like such a traditional ceremony which surprises me that it is still practiced in our country. Do you know what else is included in a New Zealand citizenship ceremony?

It’s awesome to see that you have included some great information about your home country. Please remember that when you find information online you must put it into your own words. Please rethink and re-word the parts of your post that are not in your own words. This will help me see that you have put a lot of thought into your activity and I can be sure that you have not copied it from the internet.

For future posts, please make sure any information you use is paraphrased (written in your own words) to make sure you receive full points for activities.

Good luck with the rest of your Summer Learning Journey Sam. I know you are going to smash it.

    Kindest regards,
    Megan

  2. Hi Megan,
Great feedback for Sam to look into, and yes it appears he has lots of competition this year. I am looking forward to following both his and Maddison’s blogs this summer.

  3. Hi Sam,
I too was fascinated by the fact that we still have to say an oath to our Queen when becoming a citizen. I suppose the Royal Family is very particular with traditions and being one of her nations we would be expected to still follow those traditions.

Looking forward to this years journey as we had so much fun with it last year.

    Regards
    Mum

  4. Hi Samuel,
My name is Alex and I am from Panmure Bridge school. Well done on finishing your first Summer Learning Journey activity. Your facts about New Zealand are great. I had no idea we had to swear a oath to the Queen in order to become a New Zealand citizen. Do you know what you have to say exactly? Keep up the good work.
