Activity 2 Mighty mangroves

Kia ora and welcome!
Are you strong and tough?

My person that is really strong would have to be my gym instructor mike,
He is awesome and does heaps of different classes like strike, boxing and MMA, Beat and Move, dance, flow, yoga and my favourite sweat and fury.
There is also a class called force and that is weights.

  1. Hi Sam,

Yes I agree our Gym instructor Mike is very strong. He has been an instructor since he was 14. So lots of hard work has made him strong.

Who else would you consider strong? Is there other ways someone could be strong, not just physically?

  2. Hi Sam,

It's Leslie here, reading your blog from my home in wintry Canada as a member of the Summer Learning Journey team. I'm very impressed that you have a gym instructor. I'm afraid that i'm not familiar with an activity called "Sweat and Fury". I'm curious as to what you do in that class.

Do you go to the gym all year or just during the school year? Going to a gym is very popular here, in Canada, especially during the winter when it can be challenging to stay outside for very long. The ground is covered with snow here just now, and the average daytime temperature is between -10 C and -20 C. So we have to put on lots of clothes in order to take a walk with our dog, or to go sledding or skating.

I love winter, however!! It's often bright and beautiful outside and I prefer the cold to the heat. But many people would rather be indoors on cold days so to get their exercise, they go to a gym.

Mike sounds like a very impressive, self-directed person. Isn't he a great role model?! I'm glad that you have someone like that in your life.

And I'm glad that you've chosen to be a part of the Summer Learning Journey this summer. Good on you!

I'll continue to enjoy reading your blog.

    Cheers,

    Leslie

  3. Hi Samuel,
Well done on finishing this activity. It's great to hear that you have a role model from your local gym. In order to be a gym instructor I'm sure Mike would have to be a pretty strong person. Keep up the good work.
