Bonus activity The sky in Shanghai

The air pollution is a big part of Beijing.
Here is poem If I was travelling to Beijing...

Begging to realise how polluted our world is
Extreme smog and hard to see
Intense fear of whats ahead
Jiggling in excitement
Insane amount of hype for the food
Nothing but smog is in my way
Gorgeous architecture

  1. Hello Samuel,
I am Vitaraag. You have a wonderful poem. My favorite line was when you said Gorgeous Architecture. By the way you didn't have to make an acrostic poem I made a normal one you made such a good acrostic poem. I can't believe that you put your effort into this. It was a good idea to do an acrostic poem. Maybe next time you could make to words rhyme Keep in mind you don't have to but I think it would be great if you did. Keep up the amazing work!

  2. Namaste Samuel,
That is an amazing poem! I really enjoyed reading his post as it was so descriptive. Ka Pai!

My favourite line was 'beginning to realise how polluted our world is' because once you travel to China, or highly polluted areas, you can get scared and realise one day that NZ or another country can be like that too one day.

I was a little confused about the line intense fear of whats ahead because I don't know what is scary, but at the same time anything can happen.

What country do you want to travel too?

    Happy Blogging

  3. Hi Samuel,
Well done on finishing this Summer Learning Journey activity. I love your acrostic poem about the smog in China. It's sad to hear that humans have created so much air pollution. How would you get rid of it all? Keep up the good work.

    1. Hi Alex!
      I just saw this thanks!
Well you would have to talk to the locals to stop the smoke.
      Bye.

  6. Hi Sam,

It's Leslie here, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team reading your poem from my home in Canada. Isn't it amazing that we can live on opposite sides of the planet and yet participate in the same program?? So cool!

I think you've done an excellent job in creating an acrostic poem about visiting Beijing. Well done!! The photos that you've posted are a lovely addition to this page.

It sounds as though you like food, given that you've written you'd be jiggling with excitement in anticipation. Do you love Chinese food in particular? Or do you love all food?

I've never been to Beijing so I haven't tasted authentic Chinese cuisine yet. My daughter, Rachel, has travelled throughout Asia and I think that part of the attraction is that she's been able to try all kinds of dishes that are new to her. It's a wonderful aspect of travelling.

It's too bad that we have to read and learn about air pollution these days. I can't imagine having to wear a mask and living in a city that is smokey and smoggy on a regular basis. I feel very fortunate to live in a part of Canada where the air is clear and clean!! I suspect you feel the same way about living in Auckland!!

I hope you're enjoying this program and also having lots of fun time outside in the summer weather!!

I'll continue to enjoy reading your blog.

    Cheers,

    Leslie
