Week 1 Day 3 Bonus Activity - It's All in the Family - Fun Family Facts

Hey guys this blog is about what two family members close to me like to do in the summer.
I will explain to you why they like it and what it is. Let's get into it!

The first person I chose was my mum, Romana.
She likes to spend summer at the beach because she likes to walk along the sandy beach, and see seals in their natural environment.
Her second favorite thing to do in the summer holidays is to enjoy bbqs with friends and family.  She said its because we get to eat yummy salads, and enjoy great company.

The second person I chose was my dad, Sam
He likes to rest, because he works hard all year round.
Secondly he likes to go camping with our family, and swimming at the beach at Nan's house. He likes doing this with us as it was something he remembers doing as a child.

Extra fun fact about a family member - My Great Nan - Sophie was awarded a Queen Service Medal a few years ago for her work with the Ministry of Fisheries.

Is there any fun facts you would like to share about your family?

  1. A fun fact I would like to share with your followers Sam, is that you were named after your dad and great grandfather.
My dad was a huge fan of Doctor Who, and he thought he would name me after one of the characters.

    1. Hi Romana,

Thank you so much for your incredible support you have shown Sam throughout his Summer Learning Journey. I had a good chuckle when I read about the origin of your name. Your Dad must have been an avid Doctor Who fan.

Thank you for sharing this awesome family fact,
      Megan

  2. Kia ora Sam,

I loved reading about the fun things your Mum and Dad like doing in the summer. I also like spending my summer at the beach and camping. Where does your family like to go camping and what is your favourite beach to go to? I would love to know where your Mum find seals. Is it here in Auckland?

Wow, that is such a cool fun fact about your Great Nan. She must have done some incredible work to receive a Queen's Service Medal. That is such a rare and incredible award to recognise our hard workers in New Zealand. When was your Great Nan awarded that award?

My family fun fact is that my Grandad was a professional sportsman. He swam for the scottish swimming team and he also played rugby for Scotland. In 1969 he was lucky enough to play against the All Blacks. I would have loved to watch that game.

Thank you for sharing this amazing information about your family,
    Megan :)
