  1. Hey Sam,
My name is Aletheia and I am a year 7 at Tamaki Primary School and our school is also doing the summer learning journey.Wow I have to say that you have did a great job with writing down 2 facts about the similarities between the wharepuni house and yours plus great job on also writing down two differences.I really enjoyed it when you had putten down the wharepuni house and your house for your readers to take a look.

Well Samuel I really think you have did a amazing blog. What I think is that you have did awesome plus loved it when you had written down some questions for people to answers.Well I wharepuni house does not look like my house but sometimes I wish it could so I can kind of know a little more about the Moari culture.

    Cheers,
    Aletheia:)

    1. Thanks Aletheia for commenting. I will be sure to follow your Summer Learning Journey too. Have you ever visited a Marae? There is one at the Museum that you can visit, and learn lots about the Maori culture.

  2. A wharepuni is different to our house. One difference is the sleeping arrangements. In a wharepuni, everyone sleeps on mattresses on the floor. Its a bit like camping in a big wooden tent. I experienced this when I was younger on a school trip. I love all the carvings, as each one tells a story and every wharepuni has a different story.
I love our house as it is big, spacious and keeps us warm in winter and cool in summer.

  3. Kia ora Sam,

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your comparisons between your house and a wharepuni. What an awesome idea to add in a photo of your house so that we can envision the differences you are talking about. I agree with you that the shape of your house is different to a wharepuni. Your house has two stories, has a garage, and will have a number of separate rooms. However, they are also very similar in the way they have a triangular shaped roof, a door, and windows.

If you were to design your own house would you use any ideas from the wharepuni? If so, what would you use?

Have a lovely day Sam and keep up with the amazing posts,
    Megan
