Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy is a classic book written by a New Zealander named Lynley Dodd.
I have been given a official starting sentence of Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy.

Out of the gate and off for a walk went Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy.
Down the street, around the corner through the second alleyway and turn right, that was where Hairy Maclary normally hung out except for one thing, this time some one else had decided to hang out there.
This time there was other dogs there, they looked very big and scary to hairy maclary.
Hairy maclary moved slowly forward as he stopped he struggled to to bark a thing, when he finally screamed out a bark the big dogs turned their heads very quick and sharply.
The leader of the big dogs growled long and dramatically and all of a sudden hairy maclary lift one foot of the ground and as soon it nipped the ground the dogs came running for hairy maclary and his first reaction was to...... RUN! and so he did.
They chased him around the block over and over and over again. Until he ran into Slinky Malinki. Hairy Maclary then trembled and hid with fear, as Slinky Malinki made the other dogs shed a tear.
The other dogs ran home with their tails between their legs, while Hairy Maclary went back to his hang out. Waiting for him was Bottomley Potts covered in spots and Muffin Mclay like a bundle of hay, so they could all go for a play.

My favourite Hairy Maclary character is Bottomley Potts all covered in spots Who is your favourite character?? Comment below, and don't forget to follow for more blogs.

  1. Aloha Sam,

Welcome back! I have missed reading your posts. What an awesome way to start back. This story you have created using Hairy Maclary is wonderful. I was blown away with the different techniques you used such as rhyming, the use of adverbs such as "dramatically", the use of anaphora, and many more.

It sounds like you had a lot of fun creating this story. What inspired you to write a story about Hairy Maclary being chased by other dogs? I think it was clever to use Slinky Malinki as the hero who comes in to save the day.

My favourite character would have to be Hercules Morse as big as a horse. He reminds me of my family dog, Bozlee, who is a big softy. I could imagine Hercules Morse having a heart of gold with the biggest kisses.

I loved reading your story Sam. Keep up the awesome work.

    Have a lovely day,
    Megan :)

    1. Hi Megan,
It was something I could imagine, dogs chasing other dogs through alleyways. And we have a bossy cat that lives in our neighbourhood and he is always finding ways to disturb our cat. I thought about our cat who can be our hero sometimes.
The reason why Bottomley Potts all covered in spots is my favourite character is because i like his spots.

      Thanks
      Sam
