Bonus activity The WWF: world wildlife fund

Sorry guys I forgot to do this post I must of skipped it!
So we have to watch 2 videos of animals and tell you what is happening with them!

Fresh water seals:
Climate change is affecting the snow banks where seal pups are born but there are no snow banks so WWF is making snow banks so that they continue to reproduce.
Tigers:
People are training to get fit to run and capture the tiger poaches all around the world.
They have scenarios to help them under stand what they might be dealing with.

  1. Namaste Samuel,
Wow, what a fascinating post! I absolutely love your hard work and information. Good for you!

I think that the WWF is doing absolutely the right thing because , as you said, the freshwater seal needs to give birth to their babies in a safe environment. It is very good that they are making snow banks for them to lay their pups. I also think that they are elping tigers out nicely.

What kind of person are you - dog or cat?

  2. Jumbo Sam,

You provided some information about what the WWF is doing to help both Tigers and Freshwater Seals, remember you only need to select one to research. I will respond to your work on the Freshwater Seals, as you have included more information about them.

You are right, the WWF is working hard to protect Freshwater Seals. The Seals do have a specific name, do you know what it is? It'll help to go back and watch the video again carefully to find out. The WWF are doing a very important job to help this species. Can you tell me exactly what the snow banks actually do for the seals?

Remember the activity asks that you talk about whether WWF has been successful in protecting the Freshwater Seals. Have the snow banks helped? Once you answer this question and state the name of the seals you will awarded with full points for this activity. You got this!

I am concerned about how little the numbers are for Freshwater Seals. It reminds me of our treasured bird, the Kakapo who are also an endangered species. It's a tough world we live in!

    Keep persevering and working hard.

    Toe feiloa'i fo'i,

    Cia.

  3. Hi Samuel,
Well done on finishing this activity. I think that the World Wildlife Fund is doing a great job helping tigers and seals. I like how they are building snow banks for the seal pups and are trying to catch poaches that kill the tigers. Would you want to be a WWF worker when you grow up? Why or why not? Keep up the good work.

  4. Hi Samuel!
Congrats on completing this activity. You are doing an amazing job at the SLJ activities. I think that the WWF is doing a great job at helping the Tigers and Seals. Do you know any facts about the two animals?
    Blog you later!

  5. Hi Sam,

It is great to see there are organisations out these helping our endangered species. If you could be a volunteer for a day with WWF, what would you choose to do? I think I would love to help with the building of the snow banks for the seal pups. Not sure I would want to be face to face with a poacher.
