  2. Hi Sam,

It's Leslie here, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team, reading your blog from my home in Canada. It's the middle of winter here with temperatures at about -20 C. so it's very fun for me to picture someone ziplining over the tree tops on a beautiful sunny summer day. Have you ever done this?

You describe the landscape of Rotorua as 'pitiful'. What do you mean by that? Are you thinking that it's a very poor landscape?

I've been to Rotorua actually, which might be hard to believe as I live so far away. I visited New Zealand with my family a number of years ago and we travelled to Rotorua to see the mud pools and geysers that shot up into the air. It was amazing! But I have to admit that I didn't care much for the odour in the area. It smelled rather like rotten eggs because of the hydrogen sulphide that was released into the air from the water and mud. After a while I got used to the scent, but it was a bit of a surprise at first.

Wouldn't ziplining be great fun? I agree with you that it would be a great way to see the landscape without harming it. Good thinking!! Are you ok with heights? My daughters have both done ziplining and being up high hasn't bothered them at all. They've loved it!!

I hope you'll have a chance to try this activity one day while visiting Rotorua!! Meanwhile, I hope you're enjoying the Summer Learning Journey activities and I'll look forward to reading more of your blog.

    Cheers,

    Leslie

  3. Kia Ora Samuel,
WOW, I am so surprised that people can zipline across a beautiful landscape without even touching it! Well done for using great phrases!

I would definitely want to go on it because it seems so scary, but so much fun! I would get out of my comfort zone and also learn a lot from seeing the beauty down below. I was wondering what pitiful meant, as I didn't understand the sentence. It does surely sound like a dream though!

Would you like to work where they have zip lines in the forest?

    1. Hi!
      Thanks for the comment!
I like how you are constantly commenting on my blog and I think that you have a good chance at that drone!
I don't think I would like working because all you are doing is watching the 'other' people going.
      Bye!

  4. Hello Samuel,
I am Vitaraag. It does sound beautiful. I wish I could go on it. I would be pretty nervous at first but soon I would probably get used to it. Maybe next time you can say if you want to go on it. Jeep up the phenomenal work!

  5. Hi Samuel,
Well done on finishing this Summer Learning Journey activity. I would also love to go onto the zip line in Rotorua. How high up off the ground do you think it is? In the pictures that I have seen it looks like it goes on for miles and is super high up. Keep up the good work.

  7. Hi Sam,

Your reasoning behind zip lining if very thoughtful. It would definitely be a great way to see the landscape without doing any damage. My only issue would be I don't like heights, so not sure if I could go on a zip line. What is another way you think I could enjoy the landscape without damaging it?
